Vaiphei new Gauhati HC Chief Justice

Senior most Gauhati High Court judge Justice Tinlianthang Vaiphei will take over as the Chief Justice on October 21. Assam Governor PB Acharya will administer Vaiphei the oath of office and secrecy at a function in the Raj Bhawan on that day.

President Pranab Mukherjee appointed him to replace acting Chief Justice Kazarian Srecdhar Rao who is retiring on that day.

TINSUKIA: ULFA(I) has justified the attack on Bhaskar Kalita a day after the police officer died in an encounter with the rebel outfit. Talking to media, military head of the rebel outfit fighting for an independent Assam Paresh Baruah said, as a rule, never do they target a son of the soil. TINSUKIA: Security forces are fanning in Kujupathar in Tinsukia district in search of the ULFA(I) rebels who killed a police office in a fierce gun fight in the evening.
