Farmers reaping good results from UPA relief package: Sonia
Congress president Sonia Gandhi says the farmers across the country are heaving a big sigh of relief as the UPA Government has announced a huge Rs 70,000 crore package.

Addressing a mammoth gathering of farmers at Kanapara in the city of Guwhati on Friday, the UPA chairperson said there are some more special in store for the farmers. She claimed the package a historic one adding “the BJP leaders call us anti-farmers and I want to ask them what they has done while they were in power. The farmers has nothing to worry so long as Congress is in power, she said adding that the country has a party which has been safeguarding the interest of the farmers.

In her speech she justified the recent fuel hike citing the surging prices of global crude shock and thanked Assam Chief Minister for reducing the sales tax on crude oil.

Gandhi further praised the Tarun Gogoi government’s performance in Assam saying it has been doing everything possible for the people. “What this government has not done. Even the minorities are getting a separate department.” She said her mind and heart will be always with the every section of the people of Assam.

Before that, Gandhi was accorded warm welcome by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, state Congress president Bhubneswar Kalita when she landed at the Lok priya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
