Pall of gloom in Golaghat

Pall of gloom descends in Golaghat following the untimely demise of Prabin Gogoi on Monday. AGP leaders along with many local organizations and individuals thronged the former minister’s residence at Chandan nanagar and deeply condoled his death.

AGP President Atul Bora, AASU Assistant General Secretary Manowar Hussain, BJP Golaghat District President Debajit Bora, Senior journalists Apurba Ballav Goswami and Rohit Gogoi along with several others have conveyed their deep sympathies to the bereaved family. The local residents said that they will remain grateful to Gogoi for his untiring effort to ensure sustainable development of the district. His contribution is best in the sport corner of the district.  

Apurba Balllav Goswami told Assam Times that his death is a great loss for regionalism and also for the society.

Vishwa Dharma Chetna Manch and Sri Brahmarishi Ashram Ramapuram Tirupathy is jointly organizing a free yoga and naturopathy health camp at Maheswari Bhawan in Golaghat Sunday. The Golaghat District Sports Association will organize an inter district swimming competition on November 7 and 8. Talking to Assam Times, the organization’s general secretary Sanjib Handique said that two days event is slated to take place at the local swimming pool in Golaghat. He said that at organizing committee has been formed to host the event.
The Golaghat district administration on Tuesday asked the tea garden managements to clear the bonus to the workers by October 5. Deputy Commissioner Anarul Haque on Tuesday issued the order after a meeting with the various tea group owners. He ordered the owners to discuss the bonus amount with the workers to resolve the issue amicably.

Assam Sahitya Sbaha president Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora received the Syed Abdul Malik award at a function in Golaghat on Sunday. The Assam College Teachers' Association (ACTA)'s Golaghat Zone Women Cell in association with Golaghat Commerce College have jointly organised a Group Discussion Competition at Golaghat Commerce College on Saturday. The people in a huge area of Golaghat district on Sunday are all set to revive the real contribution of a forgotten hero whose name is missing in the history because of the conspicuous ignorance of the local historians.A gathering at the Jamuguri Public Hall will assess the sacrifice of Birochan Chutia who was killed by the British rulers at Rongpur when he was the station head to be disobeyed the rulers. The local people will commemorate his sacrifice at the function beside releasing a book Chutia's life and workings.
