BJP stages demo in Kokrajhar

The Bharatiya Janata Party, Titaguri Mandal Committee under the Kokrajhar District Committttee on Thursday staged a protest demonstration in front of the ‘Block Development Office at Titaguri on various issues especially against the corruption, demanded VCDC election in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).

Hundreds of BJP leaders,workers and activists carrying plycards, festoons and banners and shouting slogans carried out the protest demonstration for three hours. A memorandum was later submitted to the Assam Governor through the Kokrjhar Block Dvelopmnet officer(BDO) office demanding immediate remedial action in the region and good governance. 

The demands includes “Audit of Budget expenditure” by an independent Agency like Controller of Auditor General of India, for the last 15 (fifteen) years of Bodoland Territorial Council. The BJP demanded that all the Department/Branches should be covered for the Audit by the Controller of Auditor General of India.

Alleging large scale corruption in the Council, anomalies in providing the houses to the BPL (Below Poverty Line) card holder under the 0schemes of “Indira Awaj Yojana” (IAY), it said that public have complaints that many beneficiaries has not got the houses even those who have been benefited is not according to the standard marked by the Central Govt. It demanded a CBI enquiry against such a huge corruption where BTC administration and political parties are involved.
