Manoranjana Sinh’s arrest in the chit fund scam seems to have created no less flutter in both Congress and BJP. CBI is believed to have been closely examining the role of BJP leaders Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Tapan Gogoi and Shankar Prasad Roy who were allegedly to have taken money from the chit fund. The country’s premier investigation agency has already interrogated the trio a couple of months ago.
Same situation grips APCC where president Anjan Dutta is worried over fate hours after a team of CBI arrested the media baron from Guwahati on Wednesday. CBI has already questioned Dutta for his alleged involvement in the scam. Dutta was also alleged to have taken Rs 6 crore for his printing press along with his vernacular daily. Sen alleged that he has not been able to recover Rs 3.87 crore from Dutta who was grilled by CBI in Kolkata for three times.
Similarly, Sen named Dr Sarma in his purported letter to CBI alleging that he paid money to the then powerful Congress minister not less Rs 3 crores in cash.
