NE governors discuss act east policy

The north east governors are holding a conference in New Delhi to finalize the Act East policy. Assam and Nagaland governor PB Acharya aso also attending the conference organized by the ministry of external affairs. Minister for external affairs Sushma Swaraj opened the conference where she stressed better diplomatic relations with the neighbours.

JP Rajkhowa attedned the conference along with other north eastern governors. In his speech DoNER minister Jitendra Singh stressed proper utilization of the central funds in the entire region.

Moinul joins BPF

Founder president of the All BTC minority Students Union(ABMSU) and main culprit of BTAD riot 2012 Moinul Haque today joined to the BPF  party along with his supporters at a meeting held at Kajalgaon in Chirang district.

Haque joined the BPF party along with his supporters in the presence senior party leaders’ party to gain strengthening of party ahead of parliamentary election and paving way to win Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat.

Menwhile, the ABMSU expelled Haque for his anti organization activity and termed that he is taking political step for his personal interest.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is proposing a slew of measures that would make you uncomfortable indeed. If you are planning to lodge at a hotel, be prepared to pay more.

Gogoi, in his Rs 26.32 crore deficit budget has proposed hike in luxury hotel rooms with rent above Rs 2000. Smoker will have to spend Rs 1 more of cigarettes. Same it is with the liquor with 6 per cent turn-over tax on liquor bars.

Gogoi further proposed to raise tax on costlier pre-owned cars and one-time tax on four-wheelers costing more than Rs 12 lakh.

The budget further proposed  annual motor vehicle tax on commercial vehicles including omni tourist buses, deluxe/super express buses and contract carriages.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi is beleived to have finalised the portfolios for the soon to be sworn in ministers.

According to Assam Times Political Research Bureau, governor PB Achary will administer oath of office and secretary on January 23.

Dr Bhumidhar Barman is likely to get health and Assam Accord implementation while Bismita Gogoi is expecting forest and  cultural affaris.

Sarat Borkotoky is Gogoi’s choice for education portfolio while Chandan Sarkar is likely to get public health engineering department.

Sumitra Patir is likely to get social welfare and tribal affairs while the transport department is likely to go to Ajit Singh.

Gogoi is keeping home and finance portfolios with him. He, however, finds it difficult to allocate power, supply and PWD following the exit of Pradyut Bordoloi, Ajanta Neog and Dr Nazrul Islam.
