School alumni meet

Kushal Kunwar Balya Bhawan alumni meet on Saturday brought to light the glorious history of the prominent school in Golaghat.  

Organized at the Golaghat District Library, more than 150 aluminis participated in the livelier session where the former teachers and students remembered their roles. 

The school principal welcomed the alumnis to be followed by the introduction segment. Speakers in the alumni meet stressed teacher-student relationship apart from sincerity and discipline which are the key to success of school or college.

The permanent office of Golaghat Press Club was formally inaugrated at VIP Road, Golaghat on Wednesday. Much to the relief of many patients, the Akhil Bhartiya Marwari Mahila Samelan in Golaghat donated 41 mosquito nets in the Golaghat Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital on Tuesday. A delegation comprising Madhu Jasarasaria,Usha Garodia, Babita Agrawal, Nisha Jain, Sarita Jain and Rekha Ladia met the hospital superintendent Dr Nizra Devi and handed over the nets. 
The recovery of a body struck less sensation at the Furkating Rail Junction in Golaghat on Tuesday. The old man was suspected to have been slipped from a moving train while some others feared it a murder case. Yet another political party is coming up to beat Congress and BJP 6 months before the assembly polls. Named as the Asom Khilanjiya Manch, the party on Monday disclosed its poll blueprint with 30 candidates. They strongly criticized Congress, BJP and AIUDF alleging that these parties have been failing to deliver the goods and that the election is the best way to thrash them.  
Finally, the authority has suspended the Golaghat Law College Principal PK Sahu acting on a number of complaints from all sides. The process to place him under suspension gathered momentum after the students lodged a complaint against Sahu highlighting a financial scam where he was alleged to have been involved.     This was followed by the seizure of some official  documents by police forcing the students to boycott the classes to mount pressure on him to resign.A crucial meeting of the governing body held in presence of the Deputy Commissioner kept him under suspension and asked Rupali Borthakur to hold the charge as acting principal.
A Class ten student of Golaghat Jatiya Vidyalaya has secured first position in a state level essay competition. Puja Saikia, daughter of Ghanshyam Saikia and Swapn a Bora of Balijan appeared in an essay competition organised by the Education Department of Assam and SEBA. She wrote the essay on 'Role of Secondary Education in Skill Development' where she got first in the state. She was awarded in a special ceremony held at GMCH Auditorium, Guwahati in presence of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, state education Minister Sharat Borkotoky and several other dignitaries. Golaghat Jatiya Vidyalaya family has greetd Puja Saikia on her achievement.
