School alumni meet

Kushal Kunwar Balya Bhawan alumni meet on Saturday brought to light the glorious history of the prominent school in Golaghat.  

Organized at the Golaghat District Library, more than 150 aluminis participated in the livelier session where the former teachers and students remembered their roles. 

The school principal welcomed the alumnis to be followed by the introduction segment. Speakers in the alumni meet stressed teacher-student relationship apart from sincerity and discipline which are the key to success of school or college.

Vishwa Dharma Chetna Manch and Sri Brahmarishi Ashram Ramapuram Tirupathy is jointly organizing a free yoga and naturopathy health camp at Maheswari Bhawan in Golaghat Sunday. Golaghat boxers are gearing up for the inter district competition slated for Friday and Saturday in Guwahati.Talking to Assam Times, the Golaghat District Sports Association general secretary Sanjib Handique said that the district team comprises Padma Chetri ,Jyotsna Dolley, Fumala Dolley, Janhvi Baruah, Nilotpal Bora, Navjyoti Kalita and Maneshwar Burman .
The Golaghat District Sports Association will organize an inter district swimming competition on November 7 and 8. Talking to Assam Times, the organization’s general secretary Sanjib Handique said that two days event is slated to take place at the local swimming pool in Golaghat. He said that at organizing committee has been formed to host the event.
The Golaghat district administration on Tuesday asked the tea garden managements to clear the bonus to the workers by October 5. Deputy Commissioner Anarul Haque on Tuesday issued the order after a meeting with the various tea group owners. He ordered the owners to discuss the bonus amount with the workers to resolve the issue amicably.

The Assam College Teachers' Association (ACTA)'s Golaghat Zone Women Cell in association with Golaghat Commerce College have jointly organised a Group Discussion Competition at Golaghat Commerce College on Saturday. The people in a huge area of Golaghat district on Sunday are all set to revive the real contribution of a forgotten hero whose name is missing in the history because of the conspicuous ignorance of the local historians.A gathering at the Jamuguri Public Hall will assess the sacrifice of Birochan Chutia who was killed by the British rulers at Rongpur when he was the station head to be disobeyed the rulers. The local people will commemorate his sacrifice at the function beside releasing a book Chutia's life and workings.
