Adivasi Mahasabha to starts from Oct 4

A hectic preparation is in full swing to host 12th Adivasi Mahasabha with three days colourful programme scheduled at Magurmari High School ground from October 2 next in Kokrajhar district. 

Stephen Lakra, working president of the Reception Committee of the Mahasabha told that the Mahasabha has been organising to uplift social, literary and community integration of the Adivasi in Assam as well across the country. 

Over 2000 delegates from various districts of Assam are participating in the grand function, besides 50,000 people's thronged has been expected on the open session of the Mahasabha. The reception committee has engaged 150 volunteers to serve the Mahasabha to market a grand successful which is the biggest function of the Adivasi community in the state

Dr Rameswar Oraon, chairman National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will grace as chief guest, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has consented to grace as inaugurator on the open session on October 4, Lakra said.

Hundreds of students activists from Kokrajhar district unit of AASU carried out a torch light rally in protest against land swap deal on land boundary agreement this evening in Kokrajhar town.The rally was started from Aasu office near Rajmela ground via RNB road, DC office, Santinagar and concluded at same point. The students activist shouted slogans against deal and demanded deal should be rethink and cancelling for the greater interest of the state. The union strongly slammed CM Taunton Gogoi and termed Gogoi has sold Assam land to Bangladesh as he has supported to the deal.

The Kokrajhar District administration today extended ex-gratia to the next of kin of the thunderstorm survivors of the district. Thaneswar Malakar DC Kokrajhar visited the thunderstorm affected areas at Simbargaon and Karigaon. He met with the injured at the Rup Nath Brahma Civil Hospital. Malakar extended an amount of Rs. 10,000 each to the kin of Tileb Boro and Narkw Basumatary as ex-gratia. 
A total of 468 students under Kokrajhar Sadar sub-division were given away Tablet PC in Kokrajhar district.The Tablet PC was given away to the students, who were stood second division with 50% and above in the HSLC examination(2014) under the Chief Minister Special Award Scheme,2014 at a function held at Basic Training Centre on Tuesday in Kokrajhar.Altogether 1,133 students stood second division with 50% and above in the HSLC examination (2014) in the district, 468 in Kokrajhar Sadar sub-division and 665 in Parbatjhora and Gossaigaon sub-division.Students under Parbatjhora and Gossaigaon sub-division would be distributed tomorrow at Gossaigaon Govt HS School.
Students activists from Kokrajhar district committee of the All Assam Students Union protested and burnt draft of land swap deal supported from state government at Kokrajhar town near Rajmela ground today.The activists shouted slogans against state govt and demanded withdrawal of supporting letter on the matter of land swap deal with Bangladesh, which has been gaining against interest of Assam. The students union slammed the CM Tarun Gogoi for stepping to support the land swap deal and expressed their resented that people and land if the state would be affected through deal in the region.
Security forces claimed to have captured a hardcore cadre of NDFB-S militant in Chirang district on Monday. Swmkwr Mushahary alias Serfang the militant was held during a joint operation in Bamungaon area near Sidli in the evening.
