Say no to illicit liquor

With a view to creating awareness among the people, the excise department in Golaght district has been continuously conducting search and raids at illicit liquor hubs in many places for the last three months.

The drive is going on at the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Anarul Haque who concentrates on rural areas ad tea garden areas. He has been asking the people of all sections of the societies to be aware of the impending danger of illicit liquor trade and consumption. He further has asked the excise department sternly deal with the liquor traders. As part of this initiative, the department on the first week of September launched a massive drive against illicit liquor and raided several places at tea gardens and seized hundreds of litres of countrymade liquor and other materials. The department has registered 12 cases under Assam Excise Act and arrested 5 persons.
