Nazira police ASI suspended

Amid an uneasy calm the authority has suspended a senior police officer in Nazira on Saturday a day after his son allegedly attacked a driver with his service revolver along with three of his friends.

Identified as Hari Narayan Dutta, the ASI with Nazira Adarsha Police station was suspended after his son was arrested in this connection. On the other hand, the deputy commissioner who rushed to Nazira town to deal with the mob ordered a magisterial probe into the entire incident.

Four miscreants, including the son of the ASI on Saturday attacked an oil tanker driver who succumbed to injury in Dibrugarh triggering a massive protest on Saturday here the violent protestors vandalized the nearest police station demanding action against the culprits.
