Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

The Department of Urology, Dispur Hospitals  under the aegis of Assam Urological Society has been organizing a live workshop on laser prostatectomy. Central agencies have been questioning Anup Chetia at an undisclosed location in New Delhi who was brought back from Dhaka on Wednesday.  According to top sources in PMO, only a special court would decide on his fate on Thursday. Home ministry officials have not been able to get any access into these affairs. NorthEast United FC continued their dream run in the Hero Indian Super League with a 2-1 comeback win over Chennaiyin FC in a ninth round clash in Chennai on Wednesday. In a dramatic match which was interrupted by heavy rain and lightning for 45 minutes, Chennaiyin FC took the lead through Elano Blumer (33rd minute) but NorthEast secured all points through goals from Diomansy Kamara (44th minute) and substitute Silas (72nd minute). This second consecutive win for NorthEast United moved up in the points table with 13 points.  Elano scored the only goal for Chennai FC at 33rd minute with a half-volley.

In a major move to rejuvenate the ULFA peace process the Centre has brought back Anup Chetia from Bangladesh on Wednesday. A CBI has arrived in New Delhi along with Chetia and his close associate a day after they got remand of the top ULFA leader at a jail in Dhaka. Muga Day and Muga Mela–cum-exhibition will be held on November 12-13  at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati. KMSS president Akhil Gogoi dared the NDA government at the Centre to prevent him from eating pork. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Monday, the KMSS leader said, "I am an Ahom. I would like to challenge the BJP-led government to stop me from eating pork. I won't listen to them." According to Gogoi, the beef controversy put BJP in a dicey position in Bihar where the party was thrashed in the assembly polls.  
Continuing his scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi charged BJP and RSS with trying to foment communal trouble in Assam to strike electoral advantages. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Monday, Gogoi said that Modi who talked much did precious little. "I thank the people of Bihar of rejecting Modi and his party," said Gogoi a day after BJP was decimated in Bihar assembly polls.
Will the Bihar poll verdict have any impact on Assam? The straight answer is No if anybody believes Kiren Rijiju. Talking to reporters at the sidelines of a function in Biswanath on Sunday, the Union minister said that Bihar's politics survives on castes. "But Assam does not have caste politics and that's why if anybody thinks that the Bihar verdict would have any impact in Assam he or she is wrong," said the Union minister who hails from Arunachal Pradesh. Tezpur BJP MP Ram Prasad Sarma who attended the function also ruled out the Bihar impact on Assam. He said that BJP has every chance to form the next government in Dispur.
