Modi's effigy burnt

Members from Sadou Assam Goria Maria Deshi Jatiya Parsishad protested the decision of the union government to accord citizenship right to Hindu migrants from Bangladesh and burnt effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Baruapara in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. 

The parishad strongly objected and demanded early stop of decision to grant entry and stay right to Hindu migrants in Assam from Bangladesh.

The illegal migrants of Bangladesh irrespective of religion should be sent back to their country. There is no place for Hindu Bangladeshi or Muslim Bangladeshi in Assam.

KLO observed martyrs day

AASU lighted candles

The All Assam Students Union(AASU), Kokrajhar district unit along with rest of the state, marking the 99th foundation day of the Assam Chatra Sanmilon (Now called AASU) lighted 99 pieces of candles on Friday evening at Children Park in Kokrajhar. The students union activists and publics participated the lighting programme and recalled the foundation of the then sanmilon functionaries,which was founded on December 25 in 1916 at Latasil ground in Guwahati with Rasraj Lakhminath Bezbaruah as Chairman.The students union will celebrate centenary next year 2016 with yearlong programme scheduled,told Nabajyoti Roy,secretary of the AASU in Kokrajhar.

ATM vandalized

Suspected money looter vandalised an ATM along the JD Road near Mijingk Nwgwr early hours this morning in Kokrajhar town. According to police, a group of four-five persons came on a Bolero vehicle vandalised an ATM around 3 AM trying to snatch money of the ATM,but failed to take away money following strong police patrolling in the town whole night.The An investigation has started into incident and involved culprits would be booked in early manner, said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar. 

District administration on road alerts

Chirang district administration has been put alerts the police and all concern departments to make accident free and check all road related situated in the district. In a significant move to control road accidents in the district, the Chirang deputy commissioner Rupak Kumar Mazumdar has put alert recently the police and other concerned departments. Peace rally in Kokrajhar

The Lower Assam NGO Forum, which is a conglomeration of different civil society organizations working in the lower Assam districts, have come together to organize a “Peace and Unity Rally”, today to mark the one year of December 23 NDFB-S massacre in different interior villages in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts.  The rally also has been joined by hundreds of All Bodo Students Union and All Adivashi Students Associations activists. Selection camp for National School Games

Annual sports day organized

The Reality Public School organized annual sports day beginning today with three days colorful programme scheduled at its school complex in Kokrajhar.  Jagyabati Basumatary, district sports officer, Kokrajhar graced as chief guest on the occasion.  Students performed various sports and cultural activities, besides demonstrating Yoga session on the day.  Basumatary, in her speech said that the school has been running in a well manner while giving education to the students.  Prabir Barman, principal of school welcome the guest and parents who participated the programme. 

Manipur defeated Tripura

Manipur defeated  Tripura by 7-0 goals in today’s league match of the 21st Senior Women’s National Football Championship (North East Zone) which is underway at Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) ground  in Kokrajhar. Th Umapati Devi scored the first goal n the 22 minutes of the match. NG Baladevi, scored 5 goals in 29, 49, 51, 55 and 77 minutes.  D Grace scored the seventh 70 minutes to take the score 7-0 for Manipur. Kokrajhar District Sports Association facilitated NG Baladevi who was declared the best Indian women footballer for 2015 by the All India Football Federation  with traditional Bodo Aronai.

BPF office gheraoed

Thousands of BPF activists and supporters thronged the party office along the JD Road in Kokrajhar gheraoed, demanded nomination ticket to sitting MLA Pradip Kumar Brahma for Kokrajhar west(No.29) from party to contest Assembly election scheduled early next year.  Supporters with placards shouted slogans demanding nomination for Pradip from party to contest election from Kokrajhar west seat. NSLA ultra held

Security forces have been intensified operations against militants. A joint team of army and police conducted operation following a secret input about militant moving at Saharghutu area under Gossaigaon PS this morning and able to arrest a cadre of National Santhali Liberation Army (NSLA).  The cadres was identified as Nicholas Hasda. He was involved money extortion, recruiting new cadres, illegal and nefarious activities in the region. A country made pistol was recovered from him.
