Binny Yanga no more

Renowned social worker of Arunachal Pradesh and Padma Shri recipient Binny Yanga, passed away on Thursday at a hospital in Guwahati after prolonged illness.

She was the founder-chairperson of Oju Welfare Association (OWA), an NGO that works for education, health and upbringing of socially disadvantaged sections, women empowerment and Orphan children’s.

Arunachal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa has condoled the sudden demise of Binny Yanga. In his message to the bereaved family, the Governor said that ‘the State of Arunachal Pradesh has lost a valuable member of ‘Team Arunachal’ and the Nation has lost an illustrious social worker.’

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki added “we have lost a noted social worker, an eminent entrepreneur, an educationist and a very good human being. The vacuum created by her will really be hard to be filled.  Late Binny Yanga will always be remembered by the people for her immense contribution in the field of social work.”

MY HEART IS FILLED WITH SORROW UPON HEARING THE NEWS OF HER DEPARTURE. IT HAS DEEPLY SADDENED ME. I EXPRESS MY DEEPEST MOURN. I PRAY FOR HER DEPARTED SOUL. SHE TREATED ME AS HER YOUNGER BROTHER. I AM HONOURED AND BLESSED TO KNOW SUCH GREAT PERSON. I WILL TRULY MISS HER. FOR THE FAMILY MEMBERS AND ORPHANS WHOM SHE HAD GIVEN LIFE I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT DEATH MAY INDEED BE FINAL BUT THE LOVE WE SHARE WHILE LIVING IS ETERNAL. SHE WAS A WONDERFUL WOMAN AND WAS CHERISHED BY EVERYONE WHO KNEW HER. I REMEMBER THAT ONCE SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE WILL NOT STOP WORK TILL THERE IS A SINGLE DESTITUTE WOMAN AND DESRTED CHILD AROUND HER. I WISH MAY HER NOBLE WORK CONTINUES.

Namsai protests against refugees

Reacting on the Supreme Court verdict to grant citizenship to Chakma-Hajong refugees the students union of effected district Namsai, comprising of All Tai Khamti Singpho Students Union (ATKSSU, All Namsai District Students Union (ANDSU), All Namsai Area Youth Association (ANAYA) and other organizations staged mass protest rally at Namsai on Monday.‘We the indigenous people will ultimately become victims, so we never accept the verdict of Supreme Court. AAPSU raps politicians

Amid an undying controversy over the Chakma-Hajongs refugees, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has accused the political parties of trying to extract political mileage and thereby allowing the state to face an identity crisis.In a statement on Monday, the Union has asked BJP and Congress to put aside their differences and work together to resolve the crisis. “Though from party ideology they are different but when it comes to the cause of Arunachal they are an Arunachalee first,” AAPSU said.The Union further lauded Kiren Rijuju for giving his support to the cause of the state and also the state government moves to file a review petition against the Supreme Court’s verdict....

Veterinary team visits Mer, Gadum

A team of veterinary doctors led by Dr Jikom Panor visited flood ravaged Gadum and Mer villages under Mebo to ascertain the cause of reported outbreak of diseases in cattle.The team conducted animal health camp at both the villages where many affected animals were treated and medicine were distributed. The team surveying the grazing area, found plenty of toxic plants, known as Lantena camera.According to official sources, in acute cases, rate of mortality is very high. Preliminary spot examination on death of animals are found to be Lantana poisoning. Samples were collected and are being sent to laboratory for confirmatory diagnosis, informed the DVO.

World Heart Day in Pasighat

Beware drunken drivers

The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced fine from Rs 2000 to Rs 4000 against who drunken driving in the state. The inability to pay the fine would invite six month imprisonment. This was more or less of what home minister Tanga Byaling said when he was opening the ‘Traffic Awareness System’ in Itanagar on Saturday.He said at least 10- 20 young people lost their lives in the road accident every year. Emergency service in Arunachal

Arunachal Pradesh health minister Rajesh Tacho opened the emergency response call center for 102 ambulance service in presence of parliamentry secretary K Bagang, health director Moji Jini and NHM Mission Director  PN Thungon and other official  & staff of National Health Mission at Nagalagun on Friday. In his address, the minister said that the needy persons will get immediate response during emergency.
