Flood havoc in Kokrajhar, Chirang
The incessant rains that lashed BTAD areas during that last 36 hours have wreaked havoc in Kokrajhar, and Chirang in the form of flood from Monday.
In Kokrajhar district alone, over 37 villages have come under the surging waters rendering over 1000 people in the three revenue circles – Kokrajhar, Dotma and Gossaigaon.
Many areas in Patgaon, Bodiyaguri, Saragui have come under the flood wave after an alarming rise in the water level of the river Swrmanga. The flood water also washed away a wooden bridge over the Longa river in between Putimari and Dotma.
In Chirang district flood have submerged over 32 villages leaving over 2000 people trapped under Sildi circle.
Many villages under Sidli revenue circle like Silpota, Dababil, Deborbil, Nepalaara, Khoirabari, Motherpur, Nathurbari, Sishubari, Bhurbari, Besorbari, Daukhanagar, Sourabari, Khujrabguri, Amguri, Sannyasibari etc have come under the flood wave.
The flood water also breached the embankment at Silpota in the district.
Over 75 villages in the Northern-eastern part of Bengtal in Chirang have completely been inundated by the flood.
