The Assam government and GMDA have felt the heat of Louis Berger bribery allegations when the Gauhati High Court asked both the parties to submit affidavits by the next 21 days.
Taking up a public interest litigation filed by an organization on Tuesday, a division bench of the high court said that the allegations of bribery was serious in nature and asked GMDA and Dispur to submit affidavits by the next 15 days.
The court was scheduled to take up the PIL on Monday. But it was not possible because the bar association strike that paralyzed the normal functionings.
A Canada-based firm alleged to have bribed a section of ministers and GMDA officers for a multi crore water supply project in Guwahati. Initially, the Chief Minister ordered an administrative probe by additional chief secretary SC Das. This was followed by an order of CID probe to unearth the truth.
