The Louis Berger scam snowballs into a bitter blamegame between Tarun Gogoi and Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma with both trading charges and counter charges against each other.
The Chief Minister blamed his former GMDA minister for before Dr Sarma reacted sharply holding Gogoi responsible for the multi crore scam.
Talking to reporters on Monday, the chief minister leveled his accusing finger against his former GMDA minister saying that he must own up the responsibility for the alleged anomalies and bribery. He tried to come out clean saying that he put his signatures only to clear the formalities taking the concerned minister into confidence and it was not possible for him to scrutinize all the files.
The chief minister further said that he would quit politics if he is found guilty.
On the other hand, participating in a discussion beamed by a satellite news channel owned by his wife, Dr Sarma said that the chief minister cannot escape the responsibility after it signed the papers.
Gogoi has recently ordered a CID probe into the bribery allegations after the end of a preliminary probe by an additional chief secretary.
The blamegame assumed significance a day after a citizens’ meeting demanded a CBI probe into it.
