Kokrajhar joins I-Day celebrations

Kokrajhar celebrated the 69th Independence Day along with other parts of the country with much pomp and gaiety.

The central celebration took place at Kokrajhar Government Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School ground where BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary hoisted the national tricolor.

The BTC chief also inspected the guard of honour and took salute of the parade march by the security personnels and students from various educational institutions.

In his speech, the BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony.

A colourful cultural programmme was also taken out by the students from various institutions. Games and sports were also organized among the children.

People from all walk of life including local leaders, seniors citizens, school children participated in the celebration

Various awards like Chief Minister Best Community award for development 2015 went to Aroi Swmkhwr NGO.

Laimwn Narzary, who won the gold medal in ISF World School Athletics championship (under 18 years boys & girls) held at Wuhan, PR China from 27 June-2 July, was also facilitated during the ceremony. Raju Tudu, who secured highest mark in Santali language in the last HSLC exam was also facilitated.
