Scams after scams seem to have been ailing health department these days. Yet another scam has come to light where nearly 1000 ANM nurses allegedly recruited without any seal of approval from the department.
A stunned health minister Dr Nazrul Islam has ordered a high-level inquiry into the recruitment where a circle of officers recruited auxiliary nurse and midwives allegedly taking bribe to the tune of Rs 3 lakh each.
More than 5000 candidates appeared in the formal interview conducted two months back. Headed by the director, a recruitment board finalised a list of selected candidates.
The selection list was sent to health minister Dr Islam for his seal of approval. But strangely, a circle of officers issued appointment letters to the selected candidates with some change in the names, obviously, accepting bribe.
All eyes are fixed on the high level enquiry how the recruitment took place without formal approval from the minister.
