Photography competition

The Department of Mass Communication, Assam Don Bosco University in association with Mediahype, is  organizing imageind-2015, a unique 3-day National Photography Competition, Exhibition and Workshop from 21st of August to 23rd of August, 2015 at Don Bosco School, Panbazar, Guwahati with the theme “Photography For A Cause”.

 “The event imageind 2015 is organised on the occasion of World Photography Day (19th August) to create awareness on social issues among common people, on issues such as environment pollution, plight of women and children, as well as people’s livelihood,” says event chairman Fr C.M. Paul.

“The event aims to create a platform for young talents and professionals, as well as encourage and boost up the creative spirit in them through photography for a social cause,” says event partner and CEO of Mediahype Mr Ujjal Borah.

Assistant Professor and Program Director Mr Kaushik Bhuyan adds, “we shall contribute a part of the proceedings from this initiative to serve the street children and elderly people in the society through identified NGOs already working in these two fields.”

Addressing media persons, ADBU Pro-Vice chancellor Fr Joseph Nellanattu encouraged media persons to partner with ADBU to exercise their social responsibility and “create awareness about environment pollution, plight of women and children and urgent need of ensuring livelihood for the poor.”

Among celebrities who endorsed the event are noted Singer Tarali Sarma, Actress Zerifa Wahid, Actor Kapil Bora, Actress Nishita Goswami, Actor and Cultural Activist Nipon Goswami among others.

Other endorsements come from P.A. Sangma, MP and former Lok Sabha Speaker.

Prafulla Kuamar Mahanta former CM of Assam, Mathew Samuel Managing Editor Tehelka Magazine, Utpal Baruah Photojournalist of UB Photos, and Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharya Advisor to All Assam Students Union.

The inaugural function of the Photography exhibition is scheduled for 11 am on 21st August at Don Bosco School Panbazar followed by 3-day exhibition and a workshop on various aspects of photography for both students, amateurs and professionals in the field.

The imageind 2015 closing ceremony is scheduled to be held at Gauhati Town Club from 5 pm on 23rd of August, 2015 during which the winners of the photography competition will be awarded.

The combined 10-day Annual National Cadet Corps (NCC) Training Camp was held under the aegis of the 16th Bengal Battalion at Salesian College Siliguri from 16th to 25th September 2021.  As many as 400 NCC cadets from 10 colleges from in and around Siliguri participated.
