Step up border security

The Supreme Court has asked both Delhi and Dispur to step up measures to improve border security management, roads and electrification along the Indo-Bangla border.

Taking up the Upamanyu Hazarika panel report on Tuesday, a division bench of the court comprising Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Rohington F Nariman asked the commission to visit the border after two months and see the status of the work.

The Hazarika panel report contains stunning revelations much to a major embarrassment of the government. The report reveals no patrolling of the riverine section of the border.

The report further laments lack of electrified fences in the in Dhubri sector.

The panel blames lack of police patrolling which is responsible for unabated infiltration from across the border.

Ayush healthcare system to train rural youths

The Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Rural Development have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop skilled manpower for the Ayush healthcare system. The agreement aims to enable rural youth to become a skilled workforce in the sector. In the first phase, the program will train 22,000 rural youths in FY2023-24, with a minimum placement guarantee of 70%.
