3 killed in elephant attack

Three people including a women died when a herd of wild elephants unleashed terror at a remote village in Udalguri on Tuesday.

Wild elephants arrived in the tiny village bordering Bhutan in the evening spearing panic among the villagers who had to flee to safe places.

The first victim was Purki Jhora whom the elephants trampled to death at Jhorabasti village near Garuajhar on Monday.

The second incident took place in Satghaoria village on Tuesday wee hours where the victim was Deogi Munda.

Thirdly, identified as Bristi Boro, the local resident of Bhootiachang was killed at around 3-30 in the early morning.

Moreover, a 12-year old girl sustained injury in the attack at Bamunjuli tea garden where the elephants destroyed many houses in Bhootiachang; Garuajhar, Bholatar.
