Amit Shah on visit to Guwahati

BJP president is on stock taking visit to Guwahati nine months ahead of the assembly polls.

Immediately after landing at the Borjhar airport, he along with 10 other top leaders straightly arrived at the Machkhowa ITA to address the convention of the party’s north eastern leaders.

Later in the day he would met the state leadership to take stock of the state’s pre poll political landscape.   

He is scheduled to leave the city in the evening.

Wrong News. After landing at Borjhar LGBI Airport, he went to Hotel Rituraj where he conducted a personal meeting for more than one hour and then around 12:10 proceeded to ITA Machkhowa from where he left for Delhi.

AGP and BJP MPs from the state staged seperate dharnas in protest agains the Indo-Bangla land boundary rati fication bill a day after it was tabled in the Rajya Sabha.               AGP MPs namely Birendra Prasad Baishya and Joseph Toppo staged dharna in front of the ministry of external affairs in protest agaist the bill in question.           They warned external affairs minister Salman Khursid of dire consequence if the bill is not cancelled.          BJP MPs also staged dharna at the Jantar Mantor and vowed the remain dead opposed against the bill.

Veteran journalist, prolific writer and socio economic and political analyst Jatindra Kumar Borgohain passed away on Wednesday following a brief illness.Borgohain died two died at the Hayat Hospital at around 2-50 in the afternoon two days after he was rushed to it following a serious ailment. ULFA has charged Dibrugarh police with masterminding the powerful blast that rocked the town on Tuesday leaving a schoolgirl. In a statement issued a day after the explosion at Amulapatty, the outfit made it clear that they had no role in the incident. The outfit called it a handiwork of police. Identified as Purnima Rajat, the Class X girl died on the spot as the blast took place. Five people--- left injured in the blast, were rushed to AMCH.
Security forces claimed to have recovered the bodies of two SSB constables a week after the duo were kidnapped by the suspected NEFB-S militants.          The bullet ridden bodies were spotted along the Indo-Bhutan border on Thursday.         Two more skeletons were also recovered from the same spot.
Security forces have rescued 4 tea garden workers 12 hours after suspected NSCN-K militants kidnapped them at gunpoint in Moriani.             Identified as Damu Gour,Maina Baishya, Amar Praja and Bijen Goala, they were rescued from a dense jungle during a combing operation along the Assam-Nagaland border on Wednesday night.               They were kidnapped by gunmen in the morning from a tea plantation site in Rongkham and demanded Rs 1.5 lakh for their release forcing a combing operation in the jungle.
Security forces, engaged in the counterinsurgency operation in Dima Hasao district, achieved a major success when a dreaded militant was captured on Wednesday.       Identified as David Kemprai, the 45 year old Action Dimasa leader was held during a combing operation in Mahur in the afternoon.         Kemprai was the main culprit behind the killing of Rajiv Pathak, the PHE executive engineer in Haflong who was shot dead by militant inside his chamber two months back.

Despite strict vigil, Naga miscreants continue to unleash terror in Moriani along the Assam-Nagaland interstate-border.                    Suspected NSCN-K militants kidnapped four workers from  their workplace on Wednesday morning.           The incident took place at Rankham where armed militants took away the workers at gunpoint.          Search operation is in progress.
