Normal activities in ONGC have come to a grinding halt on Monday following the 100 hour bandh by AASU raising a slew of demands.
ONGC vehicles are not plying on the road. The protestors have not allowed any employee to attend the duty from 6 in the morning.
On the other hand, the halt in gas supply has disrupted power generation from early in the morning in the time of sweltering heat.
Talking to Assam Times in Sivasagar, AASU leaders said that despite assurances the ONGC authorities have gone back to their words forcing them to take this course of action.
“ONGC promised a super specialty hospital. But it has yet to see the light of the day. The entire project still mires in uncertainty,” rued a local AASU leader.
Another leader said, “We were earlier promised that ONGC would consider preference of candidates from the state in most of the recruitment. But of no avail.”
Despite repeated assurances, ONGC has not taking steps to properly preserve the historic places and monuments.
