All out against illegal tax

The People's Coordination for Democratic Rights (PCDR) is going all out against illegal tax collection in BTAD areas.

The organization will be on a 36 hour strike on Tuesday alleging illegal tax near Srirampur inter-state checkgate in Kokrajhar district.

PCDR leaders told Assam Times that the illegal tax collection was to be blamed for the steep rise in prices of essential commodities.

“Prices will not come down as long as the illegal tax collection is not stopped,” they said.

"You will find it strange to lean that a vehicle is forced to pay Rs 600 at the checkgate. That too in full view of police,” said the community leaders.
