Human becomes stranger in his own world

The human beings have created a new world for their comfort, but at the end of the day they become stranger to their own world, said eminent Gandhian Salem Nanjundaiah Subba Rao while interacting with the media persons at Guwahati Press Club on Sunday. A fellow of Gandhi Peace Foundation and founder of National Youth Project, Dr Rao also added that the modern science can provide one the material wealth & comfort but it cannot teach you to be an honest individual. Known for his mission to uplift the spirit of youths across the world for building a new society based on love, peace, harmony and social justice, the nonagenarian urged the young generation to devote more time for the entire human race.

Born in Bangalore in 1929, Dr Rao was inspired by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi since his childhood days. Eventually he became a Khadi-wearer. Affectionately called by everyone as ‘Bhai Ji’, Dr Rao is remembered for his enormous role in surrendering many dacoits in the Eighties.

The veteran freedom fighter has been honoured with various awards including D.Lit. (by Kashi Vidhya Peeth), Bhartiya Ekta Puruskar, Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award, Rashtirya Sampradayik Sadbhavna Puruskar, Jamanalal Bajaj Puraskar, Mahatma Gandhi Purskar, Rashtriya Sadbhawna Ekta Prusaskar etc.

Physiotherapy camp organized at press club

Nilakantha, a middle-age scribe of Assam, participated in the weekly evening OPD clinic at Guwahati Press Club out of curiosity. Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) expresses happiness and gratefulness over the recent Gauhati High Court directive to the management of Janasadharan, an Assamese daily newspaper to clear all the unpaid wages of the employees till January and also make an endeavour to pay the current wages accordingly.
