Former Ranji cricketers staged a day log dharna in Guwahati on Sunday in protest against the crippling corruption in the Assam Cricket Association.
The cricketers thronged Dighalipukhuri in the morning before they started staging dharna demanding stern action against the cricket body officials who have been making money for the last couple of years.
Talking to reporters they said, ”We won’t allow this corruptionraj to continue in the cricket body. Let them face the music.”
Notably, two ACA officials namely Bikash Baruah and G Burahgohain are likely to be arrested at any time after police registered case against the duo for siphoning funds to the tune of crores of rupees meant for uplift of cricket.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi reaches Assam on Thursday to take stock of the flood situation where at least 90 people died and many others rendered homeless. During his hurricane tour, Gandhi made an aerial survey in the flood hit Lakhimpur and Dhemaji district where the marooned people blamed it all on the NEEPCO owned Ranganadi dam which released excess waters that brought misery got them. Senior Congress leaders told Assam Times that Gandhi to visit the family members of Santosh Mohan Dev, the veteran party leader who died in Silchar on Wednesday.
