In a major setback for Nagaland, the Supreme Court on Thursday refused to entertain the plea to adjourn the hearing of the border dispute with Assam.
A division bench of the top court comprising Justice T S Thakur and Justice R Banumathi said, “the issue is decade old and we want to make it clear that no further adjournment will be granted."
Then the Nagaland government told the court that the advocate general was new and that he needed time to study the deadlock. But the case will figure on September 7.
The court had said that the border dispute between Assam and Nagaland could be resolved either by deciding the law suit or by referring it for arbitration.
