 As the assembly polls are round the corner the Congress government starts wooing the voters at the cost of the public exchequer.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi distributed loans to at least 3600 self help groups at a function organized by the panchayat and rural development department in Guwahati on Thursday.

In his address before distributing in cheques, Gogoi and urged hoped that the loans would help the self help groups in a big way.

According to sources, the loans need not be returned and the self groups would be utilized the fund at their own discretion.

The body of a tiger was discovered in the Horonbali Chapori area of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, located in Assam’s Biswanath district, on Monday. Government Extends AFSPA in Manipur Amidst Ethnic Clashes
