Awareness meeting on speed limit of motor vehicles

An awareness meeting on speed limit of motor vehicles involving motor transport association, senior citizens and public was held at DC office conference hall on Monday in Kokrajhar. 

The meeting was organised by district administration in association with district transport officer (DTO) with Madhab Prasad Sharma in the chair to creating awareness about road speed management along the national highways and district major roads in the state. 

Sharma said that considering the increasing the number of road accidents in the state of Assam and in the interest of public safety, the Governor of Assam is pleased to fix maximum speed limit for all classes of motor vehicles on the state highways, major district roads.

He said that the speed limit should be maintained and peoples be free fro road mishaps in the district. 

He has also urged the DTO to organise awareness meeting of speed check programme in the district from first day of July next and check the road communications so that overspeed motor vehicles can be checked.
