The overall flood scene turns more grim with more areas coming under the surging waters on Wednesday. The Brahmaputra and its tributaries have been flowing above the danger level following the incessant rains that lashed the north eastern states for the last couple of days.
Water level in the worst effected Lakhimpur district is still surging displacing at least ten lakh people in over 300 villages forcing the authorities to step up relief and rescue operations. Same it is in eleven other district where there is hardly any let up in the situation.

Guwahati Police has successfully busted a cybercrime gang involved in a major fraud operation. Eight individuals were arrested following a raid at a lodge in Boragaon.
The gang was operating a network of "mule bank accounts" to facilitate the transfer of illegally obtained money. The arrested individuals were involved in opening bank accounts using fake identities and documents. They would then hand over these accounts to cybercriminals who used them to launder money obtained through online scams.
