World environment Day observed at Kokrajhar
The World environment Day was observed along with rest of the counry in different parts of Kokrajhar district, organizing various programmes today.
The Kokrajhar Press Club in association with Bodoland Guardian and Bodoland Sansri and supported by local villagers of Bhaoragwja village carried out a plantation drive at Alangi Santi Bilw, Patgaon in Kokrajhar today.
Ansuma Mohilary, District Information and Public Relation officer (DIPRO),Kokrajhar attended the programme as chief guest and started the plantation drive in the presence of members of Kokrajhar Press Club and the local people.
Ajit Basumatary, president of Kokrajhar Press Club spoke on the importance of observing the world environment day and preservation of forest and wildlife.
The local people appreciate the initiative of Kokrajhar Press Club.
Around a 1000 saplings of important plants including sal, gamari, sigun, amlai, arjun etc were planted in an area of about 30 bighas of land in and around the area.
The Bodoland Students Union (BSU) central committee also organised a mass awareness programme by planting saplings along the road near the newly constructed Railway fly-over at Kokrajhar town on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Many organisations, NGOs and government departments also organised the day organizing various programmes including plantation of saplings and awareness programmes.
