Lifer for witch hunting

A local court in Chirang sentenced t people to life imprisonment over the killing of a couple alleging witchery. The court order was passed on Monday where  they were convicted on charges of murder and destroying of evidence.

It took in 2011 where a group of villagers in Dimakumari in Dhaligaon killed 55-year-old Raman Narzary and his 50-year-old wife Bulaw alleging witchery.

The couple was hacked to death and their bodies buried in a nearby pit. Narzary's son Amar had filed a police complaint seeking action against those involved in the killings. One of them is on the run while seven were sent to judicial custody in neighbouring Kokrajhar district.
