Hundreds of people residing inside the Kaziranga National Park are holding a massive protest demanding their rights after the authorities announced steps to evict them.
Led by KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi, local residents in Borbeel area are holding a huge sit in strike in protest against the proposed eviction drive.
“We do demand our right. We won’t tolerate if we are evicted. Let us live in peace,” said Nayan Das who is joining the protest under KMSS leadership.
KMSS president Akhil Gogoi said,”we won’t allow the eviction to happen. We must ensure land pattas for these people.”
The park authorities told Assam Times that a slew of measures is on the cards to clear the Kaziranga park of the illegal settlers.
