Workshop on Research Methodology in Social Sciences at Bikali College
A workshop on Research Methodology in Social Sciences was jointly
organized by the department of economics and commerce of Bikali College Dhupdhara
in Goalpara district today. Altogether 80 researchers from various colleges of the state
participated in the workshop. The workshop was formally inaugurated by Dr. Malina Devi Rabha,
principal, Bikali College. In her inaugural speech, Dr. Rabha highlighted the importance of research work
for gaining knowledge as well as benefiting the society.
Two technical sessions were conducted which were presided over
by Dr MG Singha and Dr. Abdul Haque Ahmed. The sessions were addressed by
Dr. Kalyan Das of Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change and Development (OKDISCD),
Guwahati. The technical sessions were dealt with various doubts faced by researchers
in social sciences. Both the sessions were interacted by the participants who were divided
into four groups to raise their problems in undertaking a research project in social science.
The day long workshop was concluded with a valedictory session where certificates were
distributed among the participants, Ramesh Ch. Das and Pankaj Rabha, the joint co-ordinator told the Assam Times.

The 36 hour Rabha Hasong area bandh, which ends today paralysed the normal life in Rabha Hasong areas of Goalpara and Kamrup districts. Eight organizations, including the Goalpara district units of AASU, ARSU, ABSU, ABYF and Sikshak Samanay Samiti, have called a 12-hour Goalpara district bandh on Wednesday from 6 am in protest against the killing of the two teachers – Kameswar Rabha and Sarit Rabha – after their alleged abduction by the suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA). Almost 47 days since the two were abducted, their bodies were recovered from Kasumari Pahar near Krishnai on June 30.
