Bandh affected normal life in Kokrajhar

Normal life was affected following 24 hours Assam bandh called by Biswajit Ray faction of AKRSU   demanding ST status to the Koch Rajbingshi community and separate Kamatapur state today in Kokrajhar. 

All kinds of road transport communication,business institutions like bazaar, market, shop, bank remained closed, besides the road of the town also looked deserted on the day. Most of the govt offices and school colleges were also saw off. 

The students union has been demanding ST status to the Koch Rajbingshi and Kamatapur separate state for the upliftment of the community in the region.

Three people are believed to have been killed in the name of witch-hunting in Kokrajhar.The incident took place on Thursday in Mongoljhar where the three people including a woman have been remaining untraced for the last 48 hours.Acting on the complaints, police have picked up 11 villagers on Saturday morning.
