Gamlin joins as Delhi chief secy

Despite stiff resistance from Arvind Kejriwal and his lobby senior IAS officer from Assam Shakuntala Gamlin took over as Delhi chief secretery. 

Shakuntala, the daughter of former minister Lalit Doley and wife of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Jarbom Gamlin has alleged intimidation by a section of bureacrates not to take over. 

He was Lt Governor Jung who appointed her in the top post defying the chief minister's opposition who calls her corrupt.

A mild earthquake create no less panic in the entire state when it was felt on Friday morning. The tremor was felt in Guwahati also at 5-24 in the wee hours where the denizens started coming down from the high rise buildings fearing collapse.  According to the seismological survey centre at Shillong, measuring 4. 8 magnitude in Richter Scale, the tremor originated at latitude 27.0 degrees North and longitude 92.5 degrees East, in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. There was, however, no report of any casualty or damage to property.

Good news for BPL families. Courtesy Dispur. The government is all set to introduce a total health care package for these families. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who is behind the entire initiative has directed the health department on Thursday to formulate a comprehensive policy for such families.Under this package, the government will facilitate the BPL families with free medicines and treatment in the government and private hospitals. He further asked the department to ensure availability of medicines in all government hospitals.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday ordered a probe into the recent incident at Jorhat Medical College where foetuses were found in a dustbin.Gogoi asked pPrincipal Secretary of the health department Sanjeev Kumar to probe another incident at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital where a pregnant woman gave birth to twins in a bathroom that eventually resulted in their deaths.  
Tension is simmering in Rangiya following the death of a school girl after she was found with serious injury marks inside her on Thursday wee hours.The incident took place at Udayan Santiniketan School in Bezera where the a sub staff found the Class XII student unconscious inside the school building in the morning. The Centre has convened a crucial meeting of the north east MPs on December 19. Convened by Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Dr Jitendra Singh in New Delhi, the meeting is expected to be attended by 39 MPs from the region.Dr Singh said has already sent individual letters to the MPs saying that he was looking forward to seek the cooperation and inputs from the MPs from the region for a smooth functioning of the DoNER Ministry. He also requested the MPs to submit their preferences and priorities for the ongoing as well as prospective projects in the region. 
AGP workers across the state wore black badges on Thursday in protest against the Centre’s move to implement Indo-Bangla land swap deal. AGP’s black flags were also seen fluttering in the public places from early in the morning.    The party will take out procession in the district and sub divisional headquarters on Friday to oppose the land deal. Come December 21. Assam Congress will hold a huge rally in Guwahati in protest against the suspension of   The North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (NEIIPP), 2007.
