Majuli, the abode of Vaishnavite culture is throbbing with the preparations to welcome a new head of the Garhmurh monastery. The focus of attraction is Prabin Goswami who is all set to assume the charge of the monastery in the largest river island on the planet.
The monastery premises is being given a fresh look. A new entrance point is being prepared to welcome the new head of the monastery.
The managing committee officials are busy with the grand event where it would get a new head to run the monastery slated for May 31. But who is he who will succeed Haridev Goswami?
“He is none other than Prabin Goswami of Narayanpur who is all set to assume the coveted post on that day,” monastery officials told Assam Times.
Goswami, a Class X standard student has assured the managing committee that he would remain bachelor.
“It would be our pride to get another Goswami to succeed Haridev Goswami who left it following his decision to shun the bachelorship,” said Ratul Bhuyan. Bhuyan, a local resident said,” we are leaving no stone unturned to make the ceremony a grand success.”
Committee officials told Assam Times that Goswami’s forefathers hailed from Ahotguri monastery which no longer exists. Haridev Goswami shunned bachelorhood and started conjugal life paving the way for Prabin Goswami to head the monastery.
