Sualkuchi, the name of a tiny place in the outskirt of Guwahati dazzles in broad day light on Sunday. The Manchester of the east is teeming with the people from the country and abroad on Sunday to attend the Sualkuchi Festival being organized to showcase its colourful craft and culture.
“ I am happy to have visited this place as nowhere in this world I have come across such a beautiful place with nice guys. So simple and so courageous. They are expert in the field of weaving,” said RB S Rojja a tourist from New Zealand.
“It gives us immense pleasure to have seen so much people in the opening day. We love to show our craft and culture to the world,” said Navami Das who is participating in the event.
People are visiting the stalls to get a glimpse of the silken clothes and dresses being kept for show and sale. “It will help us get a global response. Many people have praised us and our venture,” said Diana Kalita who owns a stall.
A health fair is also pulling no less crowd after the event was formally opened.
