Do you want to know anything about the Assam assembly on the Internet? You would find it strange if you get some unwanted and unexpected something at the click of the mouse?
Will you believe that on browsing http://www.assamassembly.nic.in/mla-all-list.html you will get to know lots of irrelevant and confusing materials. Searching the “list of Assam MLAs” on the website at a glance would fetch you all about the “Reliance Mart”, “Big Bazaar”, “Walmart” --all not unwanted for you. These are apart from some other marketing and promotional offers such as on line bachelor degree and cell phone procurement. And when trying to close the advertsements the random sites pop up.
The state government run website was hacked where wanted materials seem to have eluded time and again. Experts confirmed before Assam Times that despite a tight cyber vigil by a heavily manned IT department, spammers hacked the website through code injection attack.
Sources with National Informatics Centre told Assam Times that it took place after the materials were uploaded from an infected computer. “It is for the government department to act upon. Otherwise we can’t help,” said the sources on Tuesday morning.
No senior government officials were available for comment.
