Poll connection with land deal

In yet another damage repairing exercise hardly a year before the assembly polls, the Narendra Modi government has stalled the implementation of the Indo-Bangla land deal in Assam.

According to home ministry sources the decision was taken after the prime minister listened to the north eastern party MPs who told him that the party would have to pay heavy price if the deal is implemented.

“But it would be resumed after the assembly polls,” senior home ministry officials told Assam Times. The government is set to move it next week exempting Assam for the time being.      

Union Minister of State for HomeKiren Rijiju confirmed before the reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday saying that Assam won’t be touched right now in view of the protests and problems.
