Congress MP from Silchar Sushmita Dev alleged that the BJP-led board was indulging in divisive politics instead of working for the development of the town and this was “really very unfortunate.”
She reacted sharply on Saturday a day after Silchar Municpal Board chairman Niharendra Narayan Thakur replaced Mother Teresa’s portrait from the his office on Friday.
Opposition Congress, Students’ Federaion of India and Democratic Youth Federation are still taking out rallies in the town in protest against it.
