Kiren campaigns in Kokrajhar
Minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju visited Kokrajhar on Thursday for campaigning for the BJP candidates contesting from various constituencies in the district in the coming BTC election.
The BJP held a election rally at Raasmela field in Kokrajhar town and later at Gossaigaon town where the central minister attended as star campaigner.
Addressing the gathering the minister promised to ensure safety and security of the people in the BTAD and work for all round development if the party comes to power in the BTC.
He said the BJP has been working for all round development after it came to power in the centre and if its comes to power in the BTC and the state it will make the work easier to undertake development project and over the work in a greater way
Saying that development elude the region under the successive Congress govt in power, he said until and unless the BJP come to power in the BTC and the state, there will be no proper development.
The minister also promised to take action and inquiry and investigate against misuse of development funds in the BTC. He also stressed on the need of cleaning the system for a good governance and development.
You all have seen the miss rule by the Congress and BPF, the BJP is contesting election here for the first time, give us a chance and see how we deliver, he said.
The BJP is contesting the BTC election for the first time in all the 40 constituencies.

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday. Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar. Basumatary is likely to join ruling BPF party within couple of days, said a close aid of Binati.
Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja of Baksa district. Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region. Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district.
