Now Assam has every reason to feel proud of Tezpur litchi and ginger from Karbi Anglong. Both the products are soon expected to get geographical indication tag.
According to sources, the authorities have already registered the product for the rare tag along eight other north eastern products.
GI registry office is believed to have been waiting for Centre’s consent to issue certificate for the honour.
Earlier muga silk and orthodox tea got the GI tag to help the products get a good brand in the international market.
