BJP not averse to poll pact with AGP: Chakravarty

Assam BJP firbrand and former Union minister Bijoya Chakravarty says her party is not averse to forge poll pact with Asom Gana Parishad. Talking to reporters recently in the city, she has said the poll pact has become necessary only to bail out Assam from the Congress misrule. "There may be some difference between AGP and BJP. All these are ideological but we are united this time we must end the misrule of the Tarun Gogopi Government in the state." she has said.

She further said both BJP and AGP are in for a bright prospect for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and if it so happens, she has said, it will be a big relief for the people."

Mrs Chakravarty, who has recently been posted a the party’s vice president in the national level observed that during the last elections in State, division of votes on mere 30 seats between the two parties was a major factor in allowing the Congress to form the government.

As the BJP’s vice president in the national level, Mrs. Bijoya Chakravarty will get ample opportunity to serve Assam and indeed the entire nation. Gogoi claims all round development

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said Assam has developed on all fronts. In his address at the anniversary function at Sarusajai function on Saturday, Gogoi said that the state now ranks in third position in the human resources development index. Youth Shot Dead at Dhupdhara

A 27 years old youth was found dead at Landakhunda village, bordering Assam-Meghalaya, under Dhupdhara police station in Goalpara district early in the morning today. The youth was shot dead by unidentified gunmen as two marks of bullet holes on his chest. The body was found lying on a village road with both of his hands were tightened with his own shirt. Top Maoist leader in NIA remand

National Investigation Agency got remand of Maoist leader Indranil Chandra, alias Ajay Das for seven days after he was produced before a special court in Guwahati on Wednesday. Chandra, who heads Maoist offensive in Assam, was brought to Guwahati from Kolkata where he was recently arrested. He was produced in a NIA designated court in Guwahati and remanded to seven days of NIA custody.
