Simmering tension along border

Tension continues to escalate along the Assam-Nagaland border in Karbi Anglong district following after the lynch of a Karimganj resident by mob in Dimapur forcing the authorities to clamp curfew in the entire areas.

A bandh like situation is prevailing in the inter state border areas where only police and para military forces are moving on the streets. 

Despite curfew a few stray incidents of stone pelting are pouring in. The Assam and Nagaland government have appealed to the people to exercise restraint and not to allow the violence to spread further. 

Tension started simmering after a group of students in Dimapur lynched a rape accuse from Assam after dragging out him from the jail on Friday wee hours.
