Tripura ready to take children back

A team of Tripura police is arriving in Guwahati on March 10 to take away 16 children two weeks after they were rescued from the Guwahati Railway station.

Tripura police officials told reporters on Thursday that  the team comprising North Tripura police officials would formally take these Reang refugee children into their custody and would bring them back to their parents.

Since February 25, 19 children have been staying at a camp who are waiting for their parents to come. Three of these 19 children are from Hailakandi district.

Assam police with the help of Childline rescued them from the Paltanbazar Railway station before being trafficked. Two adult persons who were found with them have been arrested suspecting their role in it.
