Rehabilitation grant

The Kokrajhar district administration ceremonially distributed the Rehabilitation Grant and Financial Assistance to the family victim of the carnage on December 23 last in Kokrajhar district, which was announced by the Union Government at a meeting held at DC office conference hall today in Kokrajhar.

Each of the deceased family members of 33,who were killed was given away Rs.3 lakh as ex-gratia from union government in the presence of public leaders.

Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar Thaneswar Malakar said the final ex- gratia which was announced by the union government were distributed among victim families and 1,792 families each of be provided Rs 50,000 for rehabilitation grant,whose houses were totally burned and injured persons would be given grants-in-aid as per announcement.

MLA Pramila Rani Brahma, Mono Kumar Brahma, BTC executive members, Doneswar Goyari, BTC MCLA, Nion Basumatary, General Secretary ABSU Kokrajhar district, P K Bhagwabati ADC Kokrajhar, Amolendu Ray SDO Gossaigaon were present on the distribution ceremony.

The Election Observer for Expenditure for 31-Sidli (ST) LAC Jaginder Singh, IRS on Tuesday arrived at Kajalgaon in Chirang district. BJP leader quits

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday.  Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar. Basumatary is likely to join ruling BPF party within couple of days, said a close aid of Binati. 

NDFNB(S) ultras held

Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja   of Baksa district. They were actively involved in extortion, arms smuggling and other nefarious and anti national activities and Adivasi carnage in December(2014) and had run away and sheltered themselves in Chennai, till their return. Two pistols along with 4 live rounds, a hand grenade and three mobile phones were recovered from them. Mohit Misahary is a cadre of 39 Batch NDFB and trained in Myanmar.
