Mamoni Raisom Goswami favours discussion on sovereignty with ULFA

Mamoni Raisom Goswami a world fame littérateur while talking to the journalists at Guwahati on ULFA problem has suggested for conclave inviting farsighted politician, academicians, sociologists and those who see the problem in its right perspective to discuss for finding the way out acceptable to both the side. It is known to all that 'sovereignty issue' is too difficult to find out the solution within the frame work of the constitution but despite the situation can't be allowed to remain for all time to come, Goswami added. Goswami said that let the Government and ULFA sat across the table and have a discussion on the sovereignty issue. To discuss an issue did not mean that the sovereignty have to be granted she further said. But if discussion was held some alternative might be come out and that led to save Assam from unnecessary violence she added. Replying a question Goswami said, "The Government is no more arrogant to be stick to its earlier stand that there couldn't be any any negotiation with any Group or Organisation out of the purview of the constitution. The Government statement appears to be the clear indication that it is ready to hold unconditional talk with the group". Goswami hoped of the ULFA leaders they would desist from any type of violence and by thus show their willingness to sit across the table and came with an amicable settlement. On the other hand the Government and its army must be refrained from killing innocent people taking the plea of false encounter.
