After Congress, factionalism seems to have surfaced in Assam BJP unit forcing the party top guns in Delhi to rush a senior leader to deal with the situation before it goes out of proportion.
Sources told Assam Times that the factionalism centres around the simmering tussle between Sarbananda Sonowal and Siddharth Bhattarcharya.
Both the camps have different views on some crucial issues. But the major issue is the move to induct Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and his associates in the party.
The state unit president wants the dissident Congress leaders to be inducted in the party. But his predecessor the Union minister is dead opposed to it fearing a dent in the party’s image in the time of assembly polls.
Another faction has already erupted since Bhattacharya took the rein of the party. The third faction is unhappy with Bhttacharya when MP Rajen Gohain was the aspirant.
